What is a piece of advice you have for a prospective student?

“A general piece of advice is that college is not like high school. Choosing to attend Clarkson or any other college is not an easy ride to a degree. Find a school that fits the guidelines that you know will help you overall in your academics. Clarkson specifically allows you to be able to work with fellow students, TAs, and Professors as much as needed. If you like to be able to get help, this is a great University.”

“I was very worried about a lot of things before coming to Clarkson. I am the oldest of my sisters and the first in my family to go to a 4-year institution. I was very nervous about making friends and finding my place. I would’ve never imagined all of the amazing opportunities I would have been a part of. I became involved with SWE, the Society of Women Engineers, and Women’s Club Volleyball. I started working for the Residence Life Department, the Admissions Office, and the CEM Department. I focused on the organizations, and opportunities I could create for myself rather than sinking into that fear and came out on the other side not only so proud of myself but a part of a network of friends and colleagues across campus.”

Personally, I wouldn’t be thriving if it weren’t for the outing club. So if you love the outdoors but you’re apprehensive about being a non-engineering student at an engineering school, then you can still build a life here that fits you perfectly. It’s a great community that you can’t find anywhere else.”
