Hi everyone, my name is Triniti Elliott and I am a senior studying Business Administration, graduating this December. This is my experience with the Fall 2025 Career Fair as I begin looking for a full-time position after graduation.

Walking into the career fair this semester felt a little surreal as a graduating senior. I had attended this event before, but this time it felt different. It was no longer just about practice or exploring companies. It was about preparing for what comes after Clarkson and making meaningful connections for the future.

Preparation

To get ready, I started by reviewing the list of employers registered to attend and visiting their websites. I looked into what industries they represented, their office locations, and what positions were currently available. From there, I narrowed down a top 10 list of companies that aligned with my goals and interests. I took the time to research them in more detail so I could ask thoughtful questions and show recruiters I had done my homework.

Next, I updated my resume. Over the summer, I had been adding more recent experiences and certifications to strengthen my application. Clarkson provides helpful tools for this process, including an online resource page and Resumania, an event hosted by the Career Center the week prior to the fair where students get direct resume feedback from professionals.

I also prepared by choosing a professional outfit, practicing my introduction, and reviewing common career fair questions so I had answers ready. Having a clear plan gave me confidence and helped me use my time wisely. Additionally, recruiters often reach out on Handshake, so I made sure to stay on top of those messages leading up to the fair.

At the Fair

The day of the fair was busy and full of energy. Employers, recruiters, and students filled the room, all eager to connect. I woke up early and made sure I was fully prepared: resumes printed on resume paper, a list of questions ready, and my day cleared of other responsibilities.

I visited all of the companies on my list, plus a few I had not researched beforehand. These spontaneous conversations turned out to be some of the most interesting because I learned about opportunities I might not have considered otherwise. I showed up right when the doors opened to avoid long lines and to fit the event into my class schedule.

Talking with employers was not only useful for understanding what companies are looking for, but it also gave me insight into their hiring processes. I asked both prepared and on-the-spot questions based on what I learned from their booths. One of the highlights was meeting Clarkson alumni, some who had graduated only recently. Seeing them thriving in their careers made the fair feel more approachable and less intimidating.

What I Learned

One of the biggest takeaways was realizing the career fair is about much more than getting a job offer on the spot. It is a chance to practice presenting yourself, build confidence in professional conversations, and expand your network. Asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine interest in employers can leave just as strong of an impression as having a polished resume.

Even if you do not leave the fair with an interview scheduled, the skills and insights you gain are incredibly valuable for your future job search.

Advice for Other Students

If you are a sophomore or junior, do not wait until senior year to attend. Go early, even if it is just to observe. By the time you are a senior, you will feel much more comfortable.

After the fair, make sure to go through any informational flyers, business cards, or QR code links to follow up with recruiters and to let them know you would like to stay in touch about what was discussed at the fair.

For seniors, remember it is okay if you do not secure a job immediately. Clarkson offers an incredible amount of support—from the Career Center to the Student Success Center and faculty mentors. These resources can help guide you toward your next step, whether that is employment, graduate school, or something else.

Final Thoughts

The career fair can feel intimidating, but it is also an incredible opportunity to grow, learn, and connect. I left feeling more confident in myself and grateful for the support Clarkson provides to help students prepare for life after graduation.
