At Clarkson University, diversity isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we celebrate. Cultural and affinity groups provide students with spaces to express their identity, connect with peers, and share traditions from around the world. Whether you’re looking to stay connected to your roots or explore new cultures, there’s a community waiting for you at Clarkson.
From vibrant celebrations like Diwali to talent showcases and cultural festivals, students bring their backgrounds and creativity to life on campus—and these experiences are open to everyone.
Diwali: The Festival of Lights
One of the most anticipated events each fall is Diwali, hosted by the Friends of India and South Asian Student Association. This festival celebrates light triumphing over darkness with music, dance, food, and tradition. It’s a true reflection of the Clarkson community—students from all cultures come together to enjoy performances, wear cultural attire, and learn more about Indian heritage.

This event highlights a wide range of talents—singing, dance, poetry, fashion, and more—often rooted in students’ cultural backgrounds. Empowering Asian Voices on Campus
Former Clarkson student Shreejit Poudyal, an international student and president of the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE), has been a driving force in building community and celebrating cultural identity. Under his leadership, SASE has hosted a wide range of cultural and professional events—from Lunar New Year celebrations to Iftar gatherings and STEM networking sessions with top alumni from companies like Lockheed Martin and NASA. His passion for representation extends beyond SASE; as a co-founder of SASIA (South Asian Students Intercultural Association), he also helped revive Clarkson’s Holi celebration for the first time in over a decade, bringing together more than 130 students in a joyful, colorful event that highlighted the strength of diversity on campus Read the full story here.
