Your checklist for coming to campus confidently
Preparing to live on campus for the first time can be daunting, so we are here to help! This checklist will help you get ready for move-in and have confidence navigating campus before you start classes.
Housing: Find your room and get your keys
- Read Orientation and move-in information: You can find a full schedule of events for move-in and Orientation here. Attendance at all Orientation events is mandatory.
- Find your housing assignment – available starting Jul 15, 2024
- Log into myCU
- Open left toolbar (three horizontal lines)
- Select myCU Homepage
- Select Student Housing
- Pack This, Leave That – here are some tips on what to bring and what not to bring when coming to campus.
- Get your mailbox and mail key
- Find your mailbox information:
- Log into myCU
- Open left toolbar (three horizontal lines)
- Scroll down and select My Profile
- Select Contact Info
- Your campus mailing address will be listed under Addresses
- Get your mail key:
- Your mail key can be picked up on the first floor of the Student Center first floor on move-in day.
- After move-in day, it can be picked up from the mailroom, located on the ground level of the Student Center.
- Note: commuter students do not have a campus mailbox.
- Find your mailbox information:
Dining: Use your Meal Plan or make changes
- Change your Meal Plan
- Selections can be changed until the end of the second week of classes by contacting Residence Life
- Use your Meal Plan and Declining Balance
- Visit the Dining website for detailed information, including:
- On-Campus Dining Options – locations, offerings, hours and payment options for each dining facility
- Meal Plan Options: types of meal plans, definitions (e.g. block meals, board meals, Declining Balance)

Did you know? Your Knight Card can be used at campus dining facilities and vending machines as well as many local businesses in Potsdam and Canton.
Parking & Transportation: Coming to and getting around campus
- Register your vehicle
- Log into myCU
- Open left toolbar (three horizontal lines)
- Select myCU Homepage
- Select Vehicle Registration
- Vehicle registration is free and must be completed each year
- No car? No problem. You can easily get around town without a personal vehicle.
- All students have free access to St Lawrence County Public Transit buses by showing their student ID card

- Walk, bike, or skateboard

Communication on Campus: Clarkson email and other online resources
- Communicating with others at Clarkson
- Email is the official form of communication at Clarkson. It’s important to check your email daily.
- Only use your Clarkson email at this point!
- Navigate to Moodle, Clarkson’s Learning Management System
- Many instructors post their course syllabi, assignments, discussions, and other course material in Moodle.
- Log into Moodle here (consider adding it to your favorites!). You can also navigate to Moodle via intranet.clarkson.edu > Quick Links > Moodle.

- Keep track of important dates
- We strongly recommend that you bookmark the Academic Calendar, which has important dates each year, such as move-in, first day of class, breaks, finals, Commencement, and more.
- Share Clarkson information with your family and support system (if you want):
- Once classes start, your educational record is protected by FERPA. If you want someone to have access to your information, you’ll need to complete a FERPA waiver online through Student Achievement Services.
