Deciding where to go to college is hard enough! Whether you have already submitted your deposit or still applying, sit back, relax, and take some advice and thoughts from some current Golden Knights of Clarkson University to help you make your decision!

Why did you decide to Become a Golden Knight?

Clarkson is a great campus for those that like to feel secluded and safe but also develop friendships that’ll last a lifetime and be exposed to many amazing opportunities. The collaboration at Clarkson is unmatched by other schools.”

Sydney, Engineering & Management ‘25

My brother went to Clarkson so I visited. I knew the minute I stepped on campus that it was the place for me.”

Clarkson is a great school and a very welcoming community. There is definitely something for everyone here so don’t be afraid to apply!”

What is a piece of advice you have for a prospective student?

A general piece of advice is that college is not like high school. Choosing to attend Clarkson or any other college is not an easy ride to a degree. Find a school that fits the guidelines that you know will help you overall in your academics. Clarkson specifically allows you to be able to work with fellow students, TAs, and Professors as much as needed. If you like to be able to get help, this is a great University.”

Academic advisors

Make use of the vast resources that Clarkson provides, such as tutors and professional workshops.”

Daniel, Electrical Engineering ‘25

Take advantage of every opportunity that you want, whether it be studying abroad or joining a multitude of clubs, or asking to do research. Seek the opportunities and if you are truly passionate about it, and you can make it happen.”

How has Clarkson helped you succeed?

I was not sure what I wanted to do for the rest of my life or what career path would best fit me, Clarkson helped me figure that out.”

Casey, Communication, Media & Design ‘23

I was very worried about a lot of things before coming to Clarkson. I am the oldest of my sisters and the first in my family to go to a 4-year institution. I was very nervous about making friends and finding my place. I would’ve never imagined all of the amazing opportunities I would have been a part of. I became involved with SWE, the Society of Women Engineers, and Women’s Club Volleyball. I started working for the Residence Life Department, the Admissions Office, and the CEM Department. I focused on the organizations, and opportunities I could create for myself rather than sinking into that fear and came out on the other side not only so proud of myself but a part of a network of friends and colleagues across campus.”

Spring Career Fair 2023

Don’t worry if you don’t know what you want to do yet! I changed my major a year into my degree, and Clarkson offered great support during the process. Choose a school that identifies with your values, and offers an environment in which you will thrive.”

Ally, Psychology ‘23

You don’t have to be an engineer to thrive here… I’m a psych major and I have built a life here that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Personally, I wouldn’t be thriving if it weren’t for the outing club. So if you love the outdoors but you’re apprehensive about being a non-engineering student at an engineering school, then you can still build a life here that fits you perfectly. It’s a great community that you can’t find anywhere else.”
